Identify Patterns for Three-Dimensional Objects Lesson Page Banner

Boy doing math
Three-dimensional figures, also known as geometric solids, are shapes that take up space.

In real life we can pick up a solid, hold it, and look at it from all angles.  We cannot do that when we see a flat object on paper.  However, there are two-dimensional patterns we use when representing solids.

The following are some examples...

Sphere

Cylinder

Cone

Cube

Rectangular Prism

Triangular Prism

Pyramid

Clearly these represent three-dimensional objects!
