If we need to find the square root of a non-perfect square, we can use our scientific calculators.

A great on-line scientific calculator can be found here.

First let's find the square root of 89.  Type in the number 89 and click on the square root button (√). 

The answer: 9.433981132...

Note: some calculators require you to input the square root button first, followed by the number.

Let's look at a couple more:

Answer: 3.741657387...

Answer: 8.660254038...

Answer: 6.782329983...

Answer: 10.04987562...

What if the problem we are working on tells us to round?

No problem!  Let's round this one to the hundredth's place.
