If one-half pound of ham is 2.69, how much will you spend to get .35 pounds?

First, let's try a similar problem that uses whole numbers. Say, one-half pound is 3, and we want 2 pounds of ham.
To find out how much a whole pound costs Multiply $3 x 2
One whole pound would be $6.
To find out how much 2 pounds will cost. Multiply $6 x 2.
Two pounds is $12.

Now, use the steps we came up with above to solve our problem
To find out how much a full pound costs. Multiply $2.69 x 2
One pound is $5.38
To find out how much .35 pound costs. Multiply $5.38 x .35
.35 pound is 1.883. Since we are talking money, we can round this to $1.88.

Let's Practice!
