Work with Each Other = Collaboration!

Sometimes it is necessary to work with other people (work collaboratively) to solve a problem.  Your answer depends upon their work, so you must work together.

Let's look at some examples where you need other people's work to complete your own, or at least to make your work easier.

Your teacher has given your group  an assignment.  Each one of you has been given a piece of graph paper and asked to find a quadrilateral that has a perimeter of 40  inches. Your group will earn a point for each different quadrilateral you identify.  You have 5 minutes to complete your task.  Do you want to find all the solutions yourself?  or should you work as a group?

The right answer is, of course, work as a group!  One person will work as the group's leader and assign each person a certain number as one of the quadrilateral's lengths.
Then each person will report back with their own results.
ans. #1) With a side of 1 inch and a perimeter of 50 in., the width would have to be 24 in. ( 1 + 1 + 24 + 24 = 50 in.)
ans. #2) With a side of 2 inches and a perimeter of 50 in., the width would have to be 23 in. ( 2 + 2 + 23 + 23 = 50 in.)

And so on, until your group has all the possible dimensions of quadrilateral  with a perimeter of 50 inches.  Now isn't that easier as a group?  Collaboration!!!! It makes everyone's job easier!

Remember, collaboration (working together) makes everyone's job a bit easier!
