Many times in Math, you are asked to "Explain your answer".  That's when it is important to use the "right words"!  The "right words" are math vocabulary words, so let's learn some!

Vocabulary Words for Grade Six Math

NUMBER SENSE and OPERATIONS

absolute value, additive inverse, base, billion, cubed, distributive property, exponent, exponential form, integer, multiplicative inverse, negative number, parentheses, period, positive number, rate, rational number, repeating decimal, standard form, terminating decimal, trillion

ALGEBRA

 coefficient, means of a proportion

 

GEOMETRY
