Quick review: the additive inverse (opposite) of a number is the number that when added with the first, results in zero.  Let's practice!

What is the additive inverse of 7?

What is the additive inverse of -3?

What is the opposite of -8?

What is the opposite of 15?

What is the first step when solving:
     x + 8 = 13  ?

What number is the same distance from 0 as is 9?

What number is the same distance from 0 as is -10?

 

Now let's try some harder ones!
