Sometimes in order to solve problems with large numbers, it is necessary to use a two-digit divisor.  Let's look at some examples!  Solve on another piece of paper, and then check your answer!

#1 A ship is traveling an 88 mile long river at a speed of 21 miles per hour.  At this rate, about how long will it take the ship to go from one end to the other ?

#2 If the area of a rectangular yard is 351 square feet  and the length is 39 feet, what is the width of the yard?

#3  A middle school band group of 56 students  was planning a trip to Toronto.  To raise funds for the trip, they held a car wash.  If the car wash netted $448 and it was decided ahead of time to split the money evenly, how much did each student raise?

As you can see from the examples, it is often necessary in every day life to divide by two-digit numbers!
