Sometimes in math problems, it is necessary to state the same amount in different ways.  Any given amount can be expressed as a fraction, a decimal, and a percent.

e.g.  ¾ = 0.75  75%

(Different names for the same amount!)

You learned in a former lesson that fractions can be changed to decimals and vice versa!

If you need to review that skill,

press this button!

But once you know how to change a fraction to a decimal, changing it to a percent is easy!  Let's review!

Remember, to change a fraction to a decimal, simply divide the numerator by the denominator.

Then, to change a decimal to a percent, simply move the decimal point two places to the right.  Don't forget the % sign.
So, to change a fraction to a percent.....
  • first change the fraction to a decimal
  • then move the decimal point two places to the right to express it as a percent!

So to change a decimal to a percent, move the decimal point two places to the right, and...... to change a fraction to a percent, first change it to a decimal and then to a percent.

Let's practice!
