Fractions, decimals, and
percents are
3 ways to show parts of a
whole.
e.g.
¾ =
0.75 = 75%
(Different names
for the same amount!)
Sometimes in math problems, it is
necessary to state the same amount in different ways. Any given
amount can be expressed as a fraction, a decimal, and a percent.
Example
1 |
Write
50% as a fraction and decimal.
50 % |
0.50 |
Example
2 |
Write
0.23 as a fraction and percent.
0.23
23 %
Example
3 |
Write |
as a percent. |
| |
One way to solve is
to use
proportion.

4 x n = 3
4n = 300
n = 75
So,
75% |
Another
way to solve is to divide.
Remember:
percents mean per 100. |
