  When using parts of numbers, sometimes it's better to express them as fractions, and sometimes it's better to express them as decimals.

Is ⅛ = 0.125?

Is 0.5 = ½ ?

I think they are equal, but how do you do that?

To change a fraction to a decimal is easy!  Simply divide the numerator by the denominator.

To change a decimal to a fraction, put the number over 10 or 100 or 1000, and then put the resulting fraction in lowest terms.

0.5 = 5/10 = ½

Divide 5 and 10 by 5

Divide 75 and 100 by 25

Let's Practice
