  When doing math problems it 
  is important to organize the
  information before starting. 

After you have finished the problem, make sure you label your answer with the correct units.

Here are some examples.

Bill ate 2 muffins. His sister Rebecca ate twice as many.  How many muffins did Rebecca eat?

1st Step- Organize your information.

Bill's Muffins Rebecca's Muffins

2nd Step- Complete the problem and label your work. 

2 x 2 = 4 muffins

Rebecca ate 4 muffins.

 

Dylan scored 3 goals in his 1st lacrosse game, 5 goals in his second game, and 7 goals in his third game.  How many goals did he score in all?

1st Step- Organize your information.

Game 1 3 goals
Game 2 5 goals
Game 3 7 goals

2nd Step- Complete the problem and label your work. 

Add 3 + 5 + 7 = 15 goals

Dylan scored 15 goals altogether.

 

My front yard is 200 yards long.  How many feet long is my front yard?

1st- Organize your information.

1 yards = 3 feet

2nd Step- Complete the problem and label your work. 

 

 

 

Remember: When doing math problems it is important to organize the information before starting.  After you have finished the problem, make sure you label your answer with the correct units.
