Discussing a problem with peers sometimes makes it is easier to solve.

What steps can help you understand a problem?

What You Think
Read	Read the problem. What do you know and what do you need to find out? Do you have enough information to solve the problem?
Plan	Can you draw a diagram or picture? Do you recognize a pattern? Can you estimate or do you need an exact answer?
Solve	Answer the question by writing out your answer.
Look Back	Is the answer reasonable? Does your answer make sense?

Courtney, Mary, and Sally are sitting in a row. How many different ways can they sit in a row?

*Mason is solving this problem. He asks Mike and Matt to help. They each pretend to be one of the children in the problem. They will act out the problem.
