This practice page has been divided into 2 very different kinds of problems.  In the first section you will be given a problem and you will be asked to determine if you should underestimate or overestimate to arrive at the best estimate of the answer.
In the second part of this practice you will be given a problem and you will use your estimating skill to arrive at the answer.

Read each question carefully.  You will be asked to determine if you should underestimate or overestimate to arrive at the best possible solution.  Click on the appropriate choice after you have made your decision.

Ms. Brown has 3 errands to run before a dentist appointment at 10:00 a.m..  To figure out when she should leave her house should she underestimate or overestimate the total time it will take to run these errands?

Bill wants to buy a new mountain bike which sells for $375. He wants to estimate how long it will take him to save the money he needs based on his weekly earnings from his paper route.  Should he underestimate or overestimate his weekly earnings?

Jim earns $6.75/ hr. working at the grocery store.  One week he used some of his own money and purchased a new stereo for $195.  That same week he worked 35 hours.  How much money did he earn that week?
