To change units, think which unit is heavier. Then think about how the two units relate.

2 lb = ? oz

Ounces are lighter than pounds.
One pound is 16 ounces.
Multiply by 16.

2 x 16 = 32

So, 2 pounds equal 32 ounces.

To change to a lesser unit multiply.

48 oz = ? lb

Pounds are heavier than ounces.
There are 16 ounces in a pound.

48 divided by 16 = 3

So, 3 pounds equal 48 ounces.

To change to a greater unit divide.
