A perpendicular bisector is a line that passes through the midpoint of a segment to form a right angle.

You need to use a protractor and a ruler to draw a perpendicular bisector of a line segment.

A perpendicular bisector breaks a line into two congruent sides.

How do you use a ruler to draw a perpendicular bisector?

1.  Place the ruler on the line.

2.  Find the half way point of the line segment. (7 cm is the half way point of this line)

3.  The halfway point is where the perpendicular bisector intersects the line.

A perpendicular bisector forms a 90 degree angle at the midpoint.

How do you use a protractor to draw a perpendicular bisector?

1.  Place the center point of the protractor on the middle of the line.

2.  Draw a line that run through the 90 degree angle.

Worm Remember:  A perpendicular bisector is a line that passes through the midpoint of a segment to form a right angle.
