| Read: 15 degrees Fahrenheit below

| Read: 5 degrees Celsius below zero. |
| How do you read a
thermometer?

First- Your eyes
should be level with the top of the liquid in the tube to read it
accurately. |
|
Second- Read straight
across from where the top of the liquid stops. |
|
Third- This is the
temperature. |

What is the
temperature of this thermometer in degrees
Fahrenheit?
- Start at the 32 degrees and count each line by
2 until you hit the end of the liquid.
- You would count 34, 36, 38 and then the liquid
stops.
- The temperature of this thermometer is 38
degrees Fahrenheit.

What is the
temperature of this thermometer in degrees
Celsius?
- Start at the 0 degrees and count each line by 1
until you hit the end of the liquid.
- You would count 1, 2, 3 and then the liquid
stops.
- The temperature of this thermometer is 3
degrees Celsius.
