Remember.....another word for "gratuity" is "tip". 
To calculate a "tip" first estimate the bill amount, then multiply by the tip rate.


Calculate a 15% tip if the total bill was $38.75

The tip at a very fancy restaurant is included in the final bill.  If the tip rate is 20%, and the food and beverage without the tip totals $74.45, what would the additional tip amount be?

Jack is known as a "big tipper"  One evening he took his family out for dinner.  The total cost of their meal was $53.75.  He really appreciated the wonderful service they had received from the waitress and he decided to leave a 25% tip. 
To the nearest whole dollar amount what was the amount of the tip?

Some people calculate the gratuity by simply doubling the tax they pay on their meal.  If the meal bill came to $42.65, and the tax rate is 8%, how much was the tip?

Sally was the waitress at two tables.  At the first table the bill came to $38.70 and the tip was 15%.  At the second table the bill came to $33.45 but the tip was 20%.  At which table did Sally receive a larger gratuity?  By how much was it larger?
