Now that you have had "verifying lessons," let's practice how to verify your answers !

Let's start with some  problems to see if you choose the best way to verify your answer.  Click on the button next to the check that is the best way to verify your answer.

1.) 1,323 - 952= 371

952 x 371= 1323    371+1,323= 952   371+952= 1,323   952-372= 580

2. Wanda  spent $41.25 buying her class a hot dog and soda.  If her class size is 15, how much did she spend on each student? Solution: 41.25÷15= $2.75

15÷$2.75= $41.25 $2.75x15= $41.25  $41.25-15=$2.75 $41x2= $82

3. Ralphie is training for a marathon. He runs 18 km each day, Monday - Friday.
How far did he run in those 5 days? Solution: 18 x 5= 90km.

(10x5)+(8x5)=90km   90-18=5km  90÷18= 5km   5x90=18km

4. If Jack gave the clerk a $50 bill, and the total owed was $38.11, what change would he receive? Solution: $50-38.11= $11.89.

$38.11+50= 11.89 $50+11=$38  $38.11-11.89=$50  $11.89+38.11=$50

Let's try some more.

Tell if answer is correct, then explain why.

1.) 17x(3+2)+ b =98,  b=13

2.) Matt has 8 candy bars and John has 3.25 candy bars. How many more candy bars does Matt have that John?
Solution: 8-3.25 = 5.25

Solution: $15.90 x 5 =$79.50
