Let's practice writing a mystery!

 

Remember when writing an original story
to include:

Characters + Plot + Setting = Story

Directions:

 3. Fill in your graphic organizer then write your mystery story.
 
4. Use the tips below to help you with your story.

Before writing any story the first thing you must do is plan!

Who will be the main character in your story?
What other characters will be in your story?
What will the problem or mystery be for the characters to solve?
Which character will solve the problem?

After you plan you are ready to start writing your story!

Begin with a sequence of events, this is your plot.
Introduce your main character.
Tell about the problem or mystery and why it must be solved.
Add clues for the reader and characters to follow.
Solve the mystery.

Include your setting throughout your writing!

Make sure the reader knows where you are in your story.
Include when your story takes place.

Share your mystery story
with a friend or your teacher!
