Lesson Banner Understanding Written Directions

 thinking boy

Did you ever wonder:

thinking boy
how to bake something?   cherry pie

how to get someplace?     map of the USA

how to build something?   man working on roof

When you do any of these things you read and follow written directions.
Written directions give us important information to help us get the job done right the first time.

When reading and following written directions remember these steps:

Read all of the directions through one time before you start.
By doing this you will know exactly what to do.

Think about what each step is asking you to do before you begin and
follow each step in order.

Don't skip a step!
Skipping steps will result in errors in whatever you are doing!

Don't be afraid to ask for help.  When you are reading and following written directions and you are confused, ASK!  When you ask for help you will be sure to get it done the right way the first time.
