Punctuation marks are exciting to use!

It's as easy as...1, 2, 3!
We use
a punctuation mark for many reasons.

          It shows where a sentence ends and another begins.
          It separates ideas.
          It gives the reader a chance to pause between sentences.
          It helps us to understand writing.

An exclamation point is a type
of
punctuation mark.

          It looks like this   !
          It is used at the end of an exclamation sentence.
          Your voice sounds very excited when you read a
           
sentence that has an exclamation point!

An exclamation point is used at the
end of a sentence that shows strong feeling
!

A sentence with an exclamation point
 can show anger, fright, surprise,
happiness, or other strong feeling
.

Use exclamation points sparingly! Keep them
for your most important and exciting sentences
.

Can you think of a time when you felt anger, fright,
happiness, or other strong feeling
?
Here are examples of sentences that show excitement
.

          Hooray, it's my birthday today!

          Run faster Tweety, run faster!                             

          Yikes, get that spider away from me!

          Wow, those fireworks are colorful!

these things

          Your sentence should show strong feeling or excitement.
