Important Points to Remember!

  An adverb is a word that tells more about a verb (action word).
 An adverb can be used to tell when an action takes place.
 To find the adverb it is helpful to find the verb (action word), and
          then ask yourself when the action is happening.
 
Directions: Read this story about the life cycle of a butterfly. Pick out the adverbs that tell when each action takes place. Click on the down arrows to check your answers.


The life cycle of a butterfly first begins with 
Stage 1, which is called the egg stage.




A tiny caterpillar emerges after the egg hatches. 
This is called the larva stage.




The very hungry caterpillar eats often!



 

Much later, the caterpillar goes into the chrysalis stage.




Last, the butterfly emerges!

 



The butterfly soon lays eggs and the life cycle continues.
