Verbs
Present, Past, or Future Tense
You have learned that a verb is a word that shows action. Well guess what? Did you know that a verb can change tense? I bet you're asking yourself,

"What does that mean?"

I guess I'd better explain!
Here goes...

Look at the picture below.
Think about what is happening.
The words you use to tell what the
boy is doing are called verbs.

Present Tense Verbs

Some verbs show that an action is happening

right now.

These verbs are called present tense verbs.

   Check out this example:

Jack plays baseball.
He throws the ball.

These sentences show the action happens now!

Past Tense Verbs

Some verbs show that an action took place in
    the past.
These verbs are called past tense verbs.
   Check out this example:

Jack played baseball.
He threw the ball.

These sentences show the action happened in
    the past.

Future Tense Verbs

Some verbs show that an action will take place

in the future.
These verbs are called future tense verbs.
   Check out this example:

Jack will play baseball.
He will throw the ball.

These sentences show the action will happen in
    the future.
