Did You Know?

Homonyms are words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings.

Son and sun are an example.

The father took his son to the baseball game. 



The sun was just coming up over the horizon.

Sail and sale are another example.

What color is the sail on your boat?

Is that blue house for sale?

Did you notice that sail and sale sound the same?
Are they spelled the same?
Do they mean the same thing?

Find a pair of homonyms in each sentence.

                             The boy threw the football through                               the kitchen window.

The rabbit ate eight carrots from my hand.

I read the book Little Red Riding Hood last year.  

How did you do?  Did you find them all?
