What is a Map?
 

A map is a drawing that represents
a geographical area.

Maps of the world
 

Maps of our country
  
Maps of our state
Maps of your town
 

There are lots of different kinds of maps. They all give you lots of information.

Maps have several parts
 

  • Title

  • Legend

  • Scale

The Title tells you what information the map is telling you. The Legend tells you what each symbol
or color means.
The Scale tells you how to measure distance on the map.
