Synonyms are words that have almost the same meaning.
Pretty and beautiful are an example.
Did you see the beautiful sunset?
There was a very pretty sunset last night.
Damp and wet are another example.
My clothes are still damp from the rain.
My dog doesn't like to get wet!!
Did you notice that damp and wet mean almost the same thing?
Are they spelled the same? No! Answer
Do they sound the same? No! Answer
Do they mean almost the same thing? Yes! Answer
