  Punctuation Takes a Vacation

Punctuation Takes a Vacation by Robin Pulver

This is such a fun read-aloud!  It helps students learn the importance of punctuation and how difficult it is to read, write, and understand when there is no punctuation.

Yo! Yes?
Yo! Yes? by Chris Raschka
There are only 34 words in this book but the punctuation communicates the story.  Use this book to teach and practice voice intonations/inflections.  You can also cover the punctuation marks with sticky notes and have the students read the book without them--much discussion will follow on how the meaning might change depending on the punctuation used.
