I
hear
with my
little ear
words
that sound
the
SAME!
Rhyming words are words that have
the same ending sounds. Examples of rhyming words are cat, hat, bat,
mat, fat and rat. Can you hear how these words
are the same at the end?
Listen to
the following nursery rhyme:
Humpty Dumpty
sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty
had a great fall.
All the king's
horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put
Humpty together again.
Do you hear
words that sound the same at the end? There are two pairs of
rhyming words in this nursery rhyme: the first pair is wall
and fall; the second pair is men
and again. These words rhyme, or sound
the same at the end.
Other
words that rhyme are:
in, pin, tin,
bin, fin, win,
and chin
drop, stop, plop,
shop, and slop
best, rest,
test, fest,
and pest
smile, mile,
trial, vile,
and while
Every word can rhyme with another word--they just have to sound
the same at the end!
Play a game
with yourself--every time you hear two words that sound the same at the
end, call out Rhyme Time! Give yourself a point and see how many
