Eric Carle wrote a wonderful story called The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  It is a perfect story to sequence, as you can sequence it by the days of the week or the number of foods the caterpillar eats.  Here is a summary of the story:
Once, there was a small caterpillar who hatched from an egg on Sunday.  He was very, very hungry, so each day of the week he ate through a different food.  At the end of the week, the caterpillar spun a chrysalis.  When he came out, he was a beautiful butterfly!
