Every book has two important things on the front cover.  One is the title; the other is the author and illustrator

This book has a title. The title of the book above is in red. The title is Alyssa's Snowman. A book's title is usually at the top of the book.  Each important word in a title starts with an uppercase letter.

This book also has an author. The author of the book is the person who writes the words.  In this book, the author is Leeanne VanDurme. An author's name is usually shown first.

The book also has an illustrator.  An illustrator is the person who draws the pictures.  In this book, the illustrator is Elizabeth VanDurme. The illustrator's name is usually shown after the author's name. Sometimes the author and the illustrator are the same person.

Sometimes the author and the illustrator are the same person. In this book, Santa is both the author who wrote the words and the illustrator who drew the pictures.
