Have you ever read any of the Amelia Bedilia books by Peggy Parish?  Have you wondered why Amelia gets so confused?  Amelia was often confused by homonyms.

What is a homonym?
Homonyms are two words that sound the same but have different meanings.  Homonyms are also spelled differently.

Here are some examples!

pair

two or more

pear

a fruit

hare

a rabbit

hair

the hair on the top of your head

fair

a carnival with rides, and food

fare

the money that you pay to ride trains, busses, subway, etc.

sail

a piece of canvas used on some boats to catch  wind

sale

to trade objects for money

Great job!
