Read the paragraph below. Notice the topic
sentence is the underlined sentence. The highlighted sentences are the
support sentences.

Giving a surprise party can be fun, but tricky.
The honored person must
not hear about the part
ahead of time! On the day of the party the guests
should arrive early.
A snack should not be eaten before the party or appetites may be
ruined. |
The
last sentence is not a support sentence. It
does not support the main idea about giving
a surprise party. A better sentence might be:
All of the
presents will be hidden out of sight.
