  What is a contraction?
   
A contraction is two words joined together with
         an apostrophe.   (
' )
 


    Let's at some examples
of contractions.

we've

we have

I'm

I am

you'll

you will

  Note:
     
  In forming a contraction, letters are removed
              from the 2nd word.

                   
The apostrophe takes the place of the missing letters.
                                 (ex.)
we have      becomes      we ' ve
                           
(ex.) you will      becomes      you ' ll
      

  What is a compound word?
    
A compound word is 2 words joined
          together to make one word.

dog + house

    contractions and compound words are formed.
