What is the role of the
Questioner?
Your job is to develop a list of 4 or
5 questions that your group
might want to discuss about this part of the
book.
Don’t ask questions about small details.
Help
people talk over the big ideas.

the role of the Passage Picker?
Your job is to look for interesting or
unusual sections or paragraphs in
the story. When you find one, mark it with a post-it note.
Look for a passage that
is either: descriptive confusing interesting important funny surprising

the role of the Summarizer?
Your job is to write a brief summary of the
day’s reading.
This will remind people in your group what the passage was about.
Your summary might include:
characters setting problem what causes the problem steps taken to solve the
problem

Your job is to look for interesting or
unusual words in the story.
