When you finish
writing a draft, it's time to
EDIT your writing.
One thing you need to check is the
SUBJECT/VERB
agreement.

SUBJECT/VERB
agreement means using the correct
subject and
verb together.
Let's review the
rules: |

Rule #1
Use
I
with
am
,
was
Use
he, she, it & singular nouns
with
is,
was
(ex.) I
am
a
baseball player.
I
was
sick.
He
is
my
friend.
Bob
was
hungry.

Rule #2
Use you,
they & plural nouns
with
are
,
were
(ex.) You
are my friend.
They
were at home.
Dogs
are friendly.

Rule #3
With a
singular noun or pronoun,
add
s
or
es
to
most
present tense verbs.
(ex.) The tree
bends
in the wind.
Mom wishes
she had a maid.
My cat
plays with yarn.

Rule #4
With a
plural noun or pronoun,
do
NOT add
s
or
es to
most
present tense verbs.
(ex.) They
play in the
yard.
The dogs
bark loudly.
Flowers
smell sweet.
