In persuasive writing,
a writer tries to convince you to believe as the
writer does.

Read the following passages. Choose the sentence that tells what the writer is trying to persuade you to think or do.

 
Milk should be an important part of your diet.  It not only
 contains calcium and many important vitamins, it also tastes
 good!  Drinking milk will improve your performance in school and
 will also help you to perform better in sports.  A survey of
 high school football players showed that 95%of them, included
 milk in their daily diet.
 

 

Garbage is piling up everywhere.  You can reduce the garbage and
 help the environment by participating in your community's recycling
 program.  Cans, bottles, and newspapers can all be recycled. 
 Reducing garbage will save energy and protect the world for
 generations to come.
 

 

All citizens of the United States have a constitutional right to
 vote for their elected officials.  Voting in an election allows you
 to take part in the democratic process that our country so
 strongly believes in.  You not only have this right, but it is also
 your responsibility as a citizen of our wonderful country to vote
 in elections.
 
 

 

Yours parents have a job, and in return for that job, they receive
 pay.  As a student, it is your job to do your homework.  Your pay for
 this job, is good grades and a valuable education.  No one can do your
 job for you.  You have to do it yourself!
