Read the story about Pete and his grandfather.

The sun was shining over head and Pete had been sitting
on the dock all morning.  He had come to the lake for the
weekend with his grandparents and hoped to be able to tell
his mom about all the fish he had caught.  Well, it would be
a very short story!  The fish just weren't biting.

He was sitting on the edge of the dock with his feet just
touching the water.  The cool water felt good on the bottom
of his bare feet.  He was thinking about the story he'd like
to be able to tell his mom about catching a whopper.  He
didn't even hear Grandpa come up behind him.  "Why the
sad face?" Grandpa said.  "I thought you liked fishin'."

"They're not bitin' today, Grandpa,"  Pete said.

"Sure they are," said Grandpa.  "They just need a little
coaxin'.  Try using my lucky fishin' pole."  Grandpa gave
Pete his pole and showed him how to twist the worm
around the hook so it wouldn't fall off.  "Ya gotta be patient
to catch the big one,"  Grandpa said.  "We'll just sit here
              awhile."

Grandpa and Pete sat on the end of the dock and
Grandpa told Pete stories of all the "big ones"  he'd caught
with his lucky pole.  Time seemed to pass so much more
              quickly when Pete had company.

Suddenly, Pete felt a tug on his line.  He pulled the fish
in with the help of Grandpa, and it certainly was a
whopper!  "Thanks, Grandpa.  I couldn't have done it
              without you," Pete said.
