How Many Scoops- Provide a large tub half-filled with colored, uncooked rice.  Place funnels, different sized bottles, scoops and jars near the tub.  To use this center, a student pair chooses a scoop and a container, then he and his partner each estimate how many scoops of rice it will take to fill the container.  Next the pair scoops rice into the funnel in the container while both students count each scoop.  Each student compares his estimate to the actual number of scoops it took to fill the container. (Debbie Earley-PA.)
