In
the July calendar above we see how number
sequence can help us decide what number comes next on our
calendar. Calendars don't really start with a 0 but for the
number sequence lesson we will show a 0. The part of the
calendar below shows the number
sequence 0-9.

If
we know the number sequence we
can predict that the number after 9 will be 10. We will see how
after we have placed a 1 in the ten's place we will begin to see the repeating
of the sequence of numbers.
We should see a 1 and a 0. The next number will repeat a 1 in the
10's place and we will see the repeat of the 1 in the 1's place. As
we read the calendar below we will read 1-0 (read as one-zero and so
on), 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6, 1-7, 1-8, 1-9. As children read
these numbers they will hear the repeating
of the basic 0-9 number sequence
and as ability develops the children will also notice the continuation of number
sequence in the 10's place.
