Repeating patterns- counting by 10s is fun and easy!  When we count by 10s we feel a rhythm in our voices.  When we look at the numerals we see that each 10 ends with a 0.

We use repeating patterns- counting by 10s to count money.  We touch each dime and count by 10s.

10         20         30         40        50        60       70        80         90

Let's count the dimes below by 10s.  We should see that 5 dimes will give us 50 cents.

=    50 cents

We can also use repeating patterns- counting by 10s when we do our number of days of school count.  We touch and count each 10s bundle and count by 10s.

                     The table above shows 31 days in the calendar count.

Remember to try and feel a rhythm when you  are repeating patterns counting by 10s. Remember to use repeating patterns counting  by 10s  when you count dimes.   Remember to use repeating patterns counting  by 10s  when you count tens bundles for the calendar  count.
