Shaping Up- Use this center idea to help youngsters recognize shapes in everyday objects. To prepare, draw or cut out pictures of items with distinct shapes, such as a triangular piece of pizza, a rectangular door, and a circular clock.  Glue each picture onto a separate card and then laminate the cards for durability.  Next, program a sheet of poster board with the basic shapes across the top.  Place the cards near the poster board and invite students to sort the cards onto the poster board by shape.  (Quazonia Quarles-DE)
