Sounds Like  A Pattern!  Clowns and their antics are not only a sight for the eyes but are also a feast for the ears!  Enlist a clown's collection of sound effects to help your little ones with patterning.  Gather an assortment of objects and instruments that make clown-related sounds, such as a slide whistle, a bike horn, a cowbell, cymbals, and wood blocks.

Use 2 of the objects to create a sound pattern; then encourage a student volunteer to recreate the pattern.  To make the activity more challenging, perform the pattern out of children's view or prerecord the sounds.  Honk, honk, crash! Honk, honk, crash!
