Sometimes you know your answer is right, but can you prove it? This lesson will show you ways to prove your answer.

How to prove your answer is right is simple if you have evidence!

So what  can the evidence be?  Can you:

  • draw a picture?

  • show it on a number grid?

  • use a tool such as a scale or thermometer
    or clock?

Let's look at some examples of using evidence to prove your answer.

The math problem: Your answer: Evidence to prove your answer:
Find the distance around your square yard with one side measuring 40 yards. 160 yards Draw a picture.

Today the temperature is 50 degrees. Yesterday it was 10 degrees cooler.  You want to know yesterday's temperature. 40 degrees Show the temperatures on a thermometer.

So whenever you can, support your answer with evidence such as a picture or a tool.
