Topic Index | Grade 2 Math Elementary Test Prep | StudyZone

When comparing two numbers,
using a

greater than    >       or

 less than
     <
sign can help to order the numbers.

Remember to always read
the number sentence from left to right

47 > 41

Say:
"47 is greater than 41"

26 < 32

Say:
"26 is less than 32"

16 > 8

Say:
"16 is greater than 8"

54 < 82

Say:
"54 is less than 82"

           Hints :

Think of the Less than sign ( < )
as looking like a tipped "
L
".
 &
The "mouth" of either sign
always goes towards
the GREATER NUMBER.

28 23

18 35

Remember:

Always read the two numbers being compared
from left to right, and the
mouth of the sign always goes towards the larger number.
