Associative Property can help you to multiply quickly and correctly.

Changing the grouping of the factors
does not
change the product.

(3 x 4) x 2 = 24 3 x (4 x 2) = 24
Think: "grouping."

When Multiplying:

** First multiply the parenthesis ( )

** Then multiply the last number to get your product.

Example 1

(5 x 0) x 4 = 0
0 x 4 = 0
5 x (0 x 4) = 0
5 x 0 = 0
0 = 0
Think: "grouping."

Example 2

(2 x 3) x 1 = 2 x (3 x 1)

6 x 1 = 2  x 3

6 = 6
