An event is something that will happen.

An event is certain if it will always happen.

An event is impossible if it will never happen.

 

 

Example 1: Event

You call a friend on the telephone.
An event is something that happens.

 

Example 2: Certain

You will eat. Think: You have to eat to live.
An event is certain if it will always happen.

 

Example 3: Impossible

You will see pigs flying. Think: Pigs do not fly.
An event is impossible if it will never happen.

 

Example 4: Certainty and Impossibility

A die numbered 1-6 is rolled.
It is certain that the die will land on a number 1 - 6.
It is impossible that the die will land on number 10.
