A survey
provides information
about a particular population based on data collected from a sample
of that population.
Before
data can be displayed, it must be organized. Tallies, frequency
charts, and graphs are three ways to organize data.
Tally marks are used
to organize large sets of data. Each tally mark indicates one time
that the value appears in the data. If a value appears 5 times, the
fifth tally mark is drawn as a slash to indicate a group of 5.
A
frequency chart can
help you list the data quickly. Each value that appears in the data
is followed by the number of times it appeared. |
