Equivalent fractions name the same amount of a set or region.


To find an equivalent faction, multiply both numerator and denominator by the same number.

Example 1:

You can use drawings to find equivalent factions. The first circle is divided into 2 parts and represents 1/2. The second circle is divided into 4 parts and represents 2/4. 

Fractions that name the same amount are called equivalent.

1/2 =2/4

are equivalent fractions.


Example 2:
