You can use geometric shapes to help describe real-world situations and objects.
Example 1:

Name the 2-dimensional figure.
 

The flag is a rectangle
It is a 2-dimensional figure. 

 

Example 2:

Name the 3-dimensional figure.
This ice cream cone  is a cone.
It is a 3-dimensional figure.

 

Remember:
Geometric shapes are useful for describing real-world situations and objects.
