Of course you do
math in Math class.
But sometimes you do math when it's not even Math time !

On the playground your friends want to have a volleyball game.  There are 30 kids that want to play.  You have to make two even teams.  How many kids will be on each team?

You use math and divide.

30 / 2 = 15 kids on each team.

For your birthday party you want to bring in cookies.  You have 22 students in the class.  You want to give each student 2 cookies.  How many cookies do you need to buy?

You use math and multiply.

22 x 2 = 44 cookies

You have a class field trip tomorrow.  You are trying to decide if you need a jacket.  You watch the weather forecast and see that it is going to be 85 ° F. Do you need a jacket?

You use math.

You know that 85 ° F is warm, therefore you do not need a jacket.

In reading Mrs. Freebern tells you  that you need to read 6 books quarter one, 7 books quarter two, 6 books quarter three, and 8 books quarter four.  You want to know how many books you need to read altogether for the year.

You use math and add.

6 + 7 + 6 + 8 = 27 books
